It's only fitting that in November we discuss K2 and Madison--these are our featured yarns this month (and if you place an order with us, you'll get one of these as a sample for swatching). These are our two biggest yarns - and therefore they make some of the fastest projects.
Let's start with Madison! Madison is our 100% superwash Aran weight yarn. It's dense and round and creates amazing stitch definition. Each skein is 200 yards, and it knits up on a US 7-9 needle. We recommend Madison for cozy accessories - the density of this yarn means it's not always great for Aran sweater patterns.
One Eleven by our own Veronica Parsons uses one skein of Madison--and look how great those cables look!
Laura Aylor's Winter Storm Warning is a bandana-shaped cowl that incorporates a simple textured garter stitch pattern that allows the yarn to sing! This would be so fun in a lightly speckled yarn, or one of Madison's monochromatic colorways.
Recently, Ivy has been knitting hats in Madison. These are the Kingsley hat by Andrea Mowry, as featured in our video.
K2 is our chunky yarn. It's a non-superwash merino, with 240 yards per skein. It knits on a US 10 or 11 needle, meaning this is one. fast. knit (and perfect for last minute gifts). As it's NON-superwash, it's also suitable for felted projects. In this video, Ivy and Jennifer show off some of the K2 colorways and projects. You can see a few more K2 projects in our Project Gallery.
Helen takes advantage of those felting properties and churns out Duffers on a regular basis.
Casapinka's Crunching Leaves Cowl is a super-quick knit using two different colors (meaning you can gift one and keep one for yourself--win win!)
We hope you enjoy working with Madison and K2, and look forward to seeing your quick chunky projects!
